A vocational evaluation is an individualized process designed to answer vocational questions.
The focus is positive. Rather than finding out what type of work you CAN'T do, the evaluation is designed to help you discover what you CAN do.

Why do I need Vocational Evaluation?
People who are referred for a vocational evaluation have experienced employment problems which have hindered them in getting and/or keeping a job.
Some people have a limited amount of work experience, so the vocational evaluation determines employment goals, work skills and training needs.
What should I expect during my evaluation?
You will be given written tests which will aid you in discovering your vocational likes, dislikes, assets and limitations. You may be given work samples which will help determine your skills and physical abilities.
During most of the evaluation you will be given the opportunity to work in several programs.
Your future vocational plans will be developed from the test and work sample results, your work performance, your evaluator's observations and YOUR input.
How should I dress?
Wear comfortable clothing that is neat, clean and appropriate for the job. Do not wear shorts, short tops or open toed shoes or sandals.
How long will the evaluation take?
The vocational evaluation is set to last up to five days depending on your specific needs. You will be working at Headwaters from 8:30am to 3:00pm. If you are sick and cannot attend, call your evaluator first thing in the morning (8:00am).
Should I bring anything to Headwaters?
You should bring a bag or microwave lunch. A refrigerator is available, as well as soda and snack machines.
What do I need to do during my evaluation?
If is VERY important that you take an active part in your evaluation by doing your best on the tests, work samples and job assignments. Tell your evaluator what you enjoy doing most - and of equal importance - what you don't like and why.
Who will help me during my evaluation?
The person who will help you is called a vocational evaluator. Your evaluator will be testing you and talking with you on a daily basis to help you develop your vocational plans. Your evaluator is in charge of your case during the evaluation period and maintains contact with your counselor or teacher. A staffing will be held on your final evaluation day to explain the results of your tests, work samples and job performance.
