The Headwaters Foundation, Inc. is a tax exempt private foundation whose sole purpose is to benefit the programs of Headwaters, Inc., a rehabilitation agency serving the needs of adults with disabilities from throughout Forest, Oneida and Vilas Counties. Incorporated in 1985, the Headwaters Foundation has been endowed primarily by the support dollars raised from an annual golf event with subsequent gifts provided by individuals and businesses from the area. Types of Gifts May Include: Giving The Gift of Cash: Memorial Gifts: Assets Other Than Cash: Charitable Remainder Trusts: Life Insurance: Giving Through Your Will: Gifting a specific amount - Stating a dollar amount to be given in your will. Gifting a percentage - Consider the idea of giving a percentage of the assets passing through your will. Gifting all or part of "what is left" - If you are not comfortable bequesting a specific amount or percentage of your assets to charity, you might wish to provide a gift from the "residue" or "what's left", after specifically providing for your loved ones Gifting, as a final beneficiary, the remaining funds of an IRA or pension fund - Which your loved ones do not use. Since THE HEADWATERS FOUNDATION, INC. and HEADWATERS, INC. are not-for profit organizations, exempt from taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, contributions may be tax deductible to those individuals who itemize their deductions as allowable by law. There may be tax savings advantages resulting from your gift.
